How Easter Killed my Faith in Atheism…400+ Comments Later

Posted by Chad Cannon 5 years ago 0

CrossesMy good friend Lee Strobel just had his article “How Easter Killed my Faith in Atheism” published by the Wall Street Journal this past weekend. It has caused quite the stir and feedback from it’s readers. If you haven’t read it, I highly encourage you meandering over to the article as Lee does a fantastic job of briefly explaining his journey of faith through reason and research.

There are 400+ comments on the article and counting. The article was in response to Ricky Gervais’ article “Why I’m a Good Christian“, even though he’s a very outspoken and well known atheist. It’s interesting to see the hateful things that are being said towards Lee Strobel and his lack of research and basis for his faith. I know Lee personally and I know he’s spent thousands and thousands of dollars of his own money to travel across the world to prove Christianity wrong. He didn’t set out with the intention of coming to the conclusion that Jesus was crucified and 3 days later, defeated death and was resurrected. I guarantee that a good chunk of these commenters haven’t come close to the investigation and deep research that Lee has done over the years.

So, who really cares, right? Sure, this article is a great read and definitely worth sharing with your friends and family as Easter is upon us this weekend. The Christian church exists based around the fact that Jesus is Alive and he defeated death 2,000+ years ago. Outreach exists to resource and empower the local Christian church to reach their communities with this message of God’s Love. This article made me pause and really thank God for what this weekend represents.

What’s making you pause and really contemplate the power that this weekend of Good Friday and Easter Sunday really represents? (shhh…don’t tell anyone it’s not about the easter bunny)

Vice President of Sales & General Manager of Outreach Events. I love helping the church reach their community through engaging and life-changing events. I enjoy bringing the best out of people and challenging them to use their gifts for something greater than they can imagine.
